My Final Year At University

My Final Year At University

Dear followers,

I know I haven’t been updating my blog much this past year and can only apologise. This year has been completely crazy as I have been completing my degree in fashion promotion.

Throughout this year I have been working on a project called Acute. Acute is a bespoke, knowledgeable, trusted, skincare brand that specialises in providing product choice for individuals, who feel they’re not represented in the skincare market. Acute is a company that would categorizes products by skin types such as sensitive, oily, dry, eczema, combination and many other different skin types. It seeks to find products that work and provide more natural organic products to their consumers. One of my aims was to create this company to be as sustainable as it can be. I have presented my idea and designs at Transitions 2.0, Graduate Fashion Week and the Ravensbourne Degree Show.  I also had the AMAZING Opportunity to meet CLARE WAIGHT KELLER who is THE Artistic Director Of GIVENCHY !

Heres a little look at the what I’ve been up too.

G-Star RAW

#WhatisRAW UK Tour

G-Star held an event at the flagship store on Oxford street, London, which consisted of live performances and a range of DJ sets from She Devil and Siobhan Bell.

The event consisted of seeing the FW16 collection, and with any purchase, you were given a G-Star tote bag. You could also customise your own denim brought on the night. Also ….

See live performers such as Etta Bond, Jay IDK, Lola Coca, Nova Twins and The Cortes, which were absolutely amazing !! 🙂

(This short video just shows some of the performers sets at the event.)

There were live pieces of art that were being created throughout the night by artists that truly inspired and captured the event of #WhatisRAW ?

An Afternoon at Thomas’s

An Afternoon at Thomas’s

As the day in London consisted mainly of shopping and store visits for my current project we decided to eat somewhere different, and Thomas’s Burberry café did not disappoint.

The menu was filled with rich food, from lobster to afternoon tea and many other selections that catered most luncheon cravings.

The food presentation was beautifully served, with small touches that made the luncheon feel even more special than my normal lunch time. Well for me anyway!

Thomas’s café itself was spacious and elegant and held the ongoing Burberry theme. The staff were amazing making sure there was a high level of silver service.

The drink selection catered for all of your delicacies from champagne to a variety of wines and a range of spirits.

Thomas’s is a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon meal away from the busy streets of London and a different culinary experience to enjoy your lunch time !

Fashion Promotion

Fashion Promotion

As summer has ended, my second year of University has started. So over the summer I have acquired the perfect books to help me further in my degree.

Fashion Promotion In Practice

By Jon Cope & Dennis Maloney

This book contains information and insights about the Fashion Promotion world. The content explores areas such as new technologies, tactics, strategies, visual merchandising, magazines or advertising. I find the book to be informative and very visually interesting, and I especially like the creative side with information about blogs, film, websites and much more.

Creating A Brand Identity

By Catharine Slade-Brooking

Creating A Brand Identity is a book that contains tips and tricks on each process, whether it be from researching, creating mood boards, rebranding and relaunching, plus much more. I really like that the book is laid out so that it allows you to learn each chapter, and then try the activities on how to create a successful brand.

Fashion and Textile Design with Photoshop & Illustrator

By Robert Hume

This book is a step-by-step guide explaining two essential programs for the creative fashion world. It explains and demonstrates how to master layers, explore varied approaches towards drawing a garment. It’s an easy layout enabling you to follow the instructions, and explains each program whilst giving you shortcuts.

Hope this is helpful !

The Summer of bareMinerals

The Summer of bareMinerals

bareMinerals is my go to makeup because it works great with sensitive skin and doesn’t dry my skin out. This is my basic summer kit for still looking fresh and ready to dance the night away !

BB

Prime Time BB Primer-Cream Daily Defense SPF 30

The Primer is great for protecting your skin with its SPF 30 protection in the formula as it gives you a defence against the sun. Also the BB cream is tinted so before you apply your foundation it reduces the appearance of uneven skin tone and imperfections.

I find the primer to be creamy and a great base for my foundation, being a very fair person having the tinted primer helps with the fact that I don’t need to apply lots of foundation afterwards.

wr

Well-Rested Face and Eye Brightener

I personally use the face and eye brightener to cover the inner corner and under the eyes to get rid of dark circles, you can also use the product to brighten up your complexion to give it a fresh face glow.

MATTE SPF 15 Foundation

The Matte foundation is long lasting and gives an even coverage that looks natural and doesn’t feel clumpy or cakey. I am a regular user of this foundation and haven’t used anything else in years, it doesn’t affect my skin or dry it out.

Full Flawless Application Face Brush

The versatile Flawless brush feels medium soft on the skin, I personally have softer brushes which I prefer because there not as scratchy.

bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0

bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0

I have had the rosy gold selection from bareMinerals for a while and have really got into using it, using it a lot over the summer I’ve found that their eye shadows can create multiple looks and are long lasting making your eyes even more defining.

However they don’t have the same packaging (as shown in the photographs) anymore, but it you click on the names of the products it will take you to the bareMinerals page where you can choose your own shades.

Graduate Fashion Week: Creative Noise 2016

Graduate Fashion Week: Creative Noise 2016

On Tuesday 7th June, I attended the Ravensbourne Graduate Fashion Show at The Old Truman Brewery.

The catwalk show was absolutely amazing!

IMG_5088

My favourites were the menwears collection and most of the female collections.

The show was upbeat and creativity was flowing down the catwalk. All the collections covered everyone’s style of interest and packed a variety of new ideas to express fashion.

The exhibition itself was incredibly well put together, with each university creating an environment that made their students stand out and thrive. The exhibition it self was situated across the ground & first floor, and not only were university shown, businesses were present hiring graduates to join ASOS, New Look and many more….

It was a great experience to go and see what it was all like, because in the next few years I’ll be graduating. ‘Hopefully!’
