Live By Night

Live By Night

Deceit, Betrayal, Power and the Rise.

As being a part of the early viewing to see Live by Night at Warner Brothers in London.

The film as a whole was well shaped, had a clear direction and captured the era perfectly.

It wasn’t a typical gangster film, which in my opinion was really nice. They concentrated on different aspects that would have actually happened and arisen in that historic time period.

There were many twists and turns in the film, some you could predict, others there was no chance.

Some raised the issue that the ending tied up all the loose ties and didn’t leave much to the imagination in leaving the audience to wonder. However, the ending had many twists but I liked the fact everything tied together.

An Afternoon at Thomas’s

An Afternoon at Thomas’s

As the day in London consisted mainly of shopping and store visits for my current project we decided to eat somewhere different, and Thomas’s Burberry café did not disappoint.

img_0073

The menu was filled with rich food, from lobster to afternoon tea and many other selections that catered most luncheon cravings.

img_0085

The food presentation was beautifully served, with small touches that made the luncheon feel even more special than my normal lunch time. Well for me anyway!

img_0083

Thomas’s café itself was spacious and elegant and held the ongoing Burberry theme. The staff were amazing making sure there was a high level of silver service.

The drink selection catered for all of your delicacies from champagne to a variety of wines and a range of spirits.

Thomas’s is a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon meal away from the busy streets of London and a different culinary experience to enjoy your lunch time !

Travelling In Style Guide

Travelling In Style Guide

Summer brings us great adventures and memories we will always have with us. But the lead up to a great holiday or weekend break means packaging and planning. As a person that tends to do this a lot, whether it be travelling to London and back or flying I have to pre-plan because otherwise, I forget.

Trust me I’m awful, here are few stories just in case you don’t believe me. Once I packed last minute and forgot to pack shoes yes shoes, the only pair I had was the ones I left home in. Another incident is I have a tendency to forget my toothbrush. This happens at least nearly every time because I leave it out last minute to pack. However, it never makes it in their last minute. So a number of times I have had to buy a new one in a panic at the airport.

So to avoid any stories relating to mine I’ve come up with packing tips, useful information to keep you stylish and on trend but also practical.

Before Packing:

Plan.

Create a checklist of items you want to take.

Make an itinerary of what you are going to wear for day and evening.

This way, it makes it easy when packing, knowing you have the right amount of clothing. However, always take a few more options, because for me I always change my mind.

The trend this summer, is slip dresses, geometric, stripes, chunky sandals, scalloped hem bikini, tops with exaggerated sleeves, graphics bags, lace-up flats, denim with patches, bomber jackets, pastels, metallics and underwear is outerwear.

IMG_0178

Rather than buying a whole new wardrobe, get out all of your summer clothes, look what is on trend and see if you have still got things that are similar. Then if there’re a few things you want to make more on trend or need to replace it’s more achievable.

However, for the upcoming season, it’s all about making sure you match the right colours. With having Emerald & Gold, Yellow & Chocolate, Russet & Claret and Purple & Navy. Also red, white and black are colour schemes popping up more often in the new campaigns.

IMG_0167

Check technology, check that you have got the music you want on there, movies and books. Because I have been that person trying to do it last minute, it’s not fun.

Packing:

Pack plenty of layers, for if it gets chilly in the evening or to cover up from the sun. As a person who the sun doesn’t like, I find taking linen shirts covers me from the sun but also doesn’t overcook me.

Pack comfortable shoes along with flats, sneakers, sandals that you could dress up and the comfy going-out heels.

Wear comfy slip on trainers shoes especially when leaving for the airport there easy to come off.

When packaging shoes amongst clothing keep them in your dust bags, because you don’t want dirty shoes in with your nice clean clothes.

IMG_0189

Pack a small emergency kit, that can travel in your suitcase then put into your purse once on arrival. This kit can be personalised, but in mine, it has things that I will always need.

Such as plasters, hair bands, Bobby pins, perfume, hand cream, sun cream, lip balm, small hair brush, lady things, mints, ibuprofen and hand sanitiser.

IMG_0185

Toiletries are an important thing.

Take two bags one for your toiletries and one for makeup they don’t have to be big bags just to separate it a bit.

Take the travel sizes of your products, so then once you’re there you can bin it which leaves more room for bringing back gifts and clothes ! But remember to pack toiletries in plastic bags just in case they leak.

IMG_0182

Packing Hand Luggage:

Hand luggage, take what you need. So for me, it’s my iPhone, iPad, Mac (sometimes), camera, purse, passport, headphones, sunglasses, reading glasses, book, charger and a travel notebook so I can store some of my mementoes in there so I don’t lose them. Also, I usually take with me sweat pants and extra thick socks, because usually it gets really cold and it’s nice to have something comfortable to wear for a long flight.

Travel Outfit & Random Tips:

Remember customs, so no tweezers, anything over 100ml.

Also, you have to take belts, jewellery, watches, coats or jackets off. So I simply recommend wearing just your watch and pair your outfit off with a scarf so that it’s easy to take off.

IMG_0193

Random Tips:

  1. Some people customise their luggage with stickers which I think looks really cool and effective. However, if you don’t want to stick stickers everywhere stick them on your travel notebook.
  2. I’ve just found out if you put tumble dryer sheets in your luggage it will keep your clothes smelling fresh.
  3. If your packing certain jackets or coats wear them to the airport so that you have more room and remember the weight limit !

Hope you have a great summer and safe journey where ever your plans take you.

I Wanna Be Apart Of It, New York, New York !

I Wanna Be Apart Of It, New York, New York !

Personally, I love to travel and experience new cities and countries. So I was fortunate enough to visit the one and only New York, the city that never sleeps.

As many of you who have visited New York, would know it is not a relaxing city break. However, it is a trip that is worth every penny !

For me, the city was extremely busy filled with workers, tourists, and the cities residents. However, the place was friendly enough dealing with the amount of tourist flowing through the streets.

When visiting New York, you want to see as much as you can, such as all the well known places to visit as Wall Street, Central Park, The Rockafella, Grand Central Station, Times Square, Little Itlay, China Town, Battery Park, Federal Hall, Empire State Building, Broadway, Crysler Building and many more.

I would truly recommend buying a travel guide and pre-plan what you want to get out of your visit, but get one that is full of tips and has the metro line map because its quick and easy to get around New York.

When visiting myself I managed to see all of the above and more, for myself I wanted to visit the well-known department store Macy’s, plus Greenwich Village and experience one of the sports games from the New York Yankees. Also, eat at the Hard Rock Cafe and discover the Shake Shack ! Having a picture next to the charging Bull, and then sailing away from the city towards home…

As a huge city lover, New York is a massive recommendation it’s got the buzz, it’s busy and there is always something going on, which is one of the many things I love.

After visiting the city for over a week it did not disappoint my expectations, and I would definitely go there again.

Graduate Fashion Week: Creative Noise 2016

Graduate Fashion Week: Creative Noise 2016

On Tuesday 7th June, I attended the Ravensbourne Graduate Fashion Show at The Old Truman Brewery.

The catwalk show was absolutely amazing!

IMG_5088

My favourites were the menwears collection and most of the female collections.

The show was upbeat and creativity was flowing down the catwalk. All the collections covered everyone’s style of interest and packed a variety of new ideas to express fashion.

The exhibition itself was incredibly well put together, with each university creating an environment that made their students stand out and thrive. The exhibition it self was situated across the ground & first floor, and not only were university shown, businesses were present hiring graduates to join ASOS, New Look and many more….

It was a great experience to go and see what it was all like, because in the next few years I’ll be graduating. ‘Hopefully!’
